ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
Patna. On 12th February,2017, St. Michael’s   High School  celebrated  its 46th  Annual Sports Meet. It was enthral and captivating show in which over 3500 students displayed their talents, skills, vigor and sportsmanship.
The programme  began with welcoming  the dignitaries and offering them bouquets.  Torch relay  and handing over the School Flag by the Chief Guest to the School Captain  and House Captains  took  place  as the starting events. The Annual Sports Flag was hoisted  by the Chief Guest, Mr.Amir Subhani, I.A..S ,Principal Secretary, Home Department.,  Govt. of India, followed by general salute. On the thunderous and rhythmic beats, the zealous  students  did the March Past  with  decorum and  discipline  which was highly appreciated. On behalf of  all the athletes, Utkarsh,  took the Athletes’ Oath.
Father Armstrong Edison, S.J., the Principal of St. Michael’s High School  welcomed  the Chief Guest, Mr. Amir Subhani , Guest of Honour, Fr. Jose Vadassery, S.J, Provincial , Patna , Jesuit Society  and  the distinguished gathering. The  students of class -II  performed ‘Super Heroes’ d Drill ’ to  welcome the audience with their sweet smiles and innocent gestures.  Then the Chief Guest declared ‘The Sports Meet Open’.
The students of St. Michaels  displayed wonderful drills with  thought provoking messages. Std-I students displayed  a  ‘Patriotism  drill‘ to evoke our patriotism whereas  std– III students   had presented  a  Drill’ to show that magic is everywhere. They took us to the mystical world and had shown the formation of INDIA . Std 7 Displayed a ‘Nurture Nature’ drill to make us aware about the depleting of our Mother Earth
Different races like 100m, 75m, race for Senior & Juniors boys & girls took place along with bursting the balloons, tie-up the shoe-laces, balancing the ball, hurdle race etc. in between the races.  Audience enjoyed a lot the races and display of drills.  They applauded throughout the programme  and encouraged the participants a lot.  After few racing events, class 6 presented fusion dandiya drill which was mesmerizing.  Their uniformity in the drill was very well appreciated by the spectators.  Class 9 presented a drill focusing on team work to do dream work whereas class 8 performed umbrella a drill which was very colourful and attractive.  Senior students of class XI performed a friendly warm drill to show fitness to all.  Their drill and participation were highly appreciated.  Other events like Sack race, 400m relay race, Cycle race, Tug of War took place in which students participated with full enthusiasm and zeal.  Classes 4 & 5 got lots of appreciation when they did Karate in uniformity and shown breathtaking stunts.
Above all Grand finale won the hearts of all as the ground was filled with thousands of students in their colourful dresses with great enthusiasm. The audience was overwhelmed and the ground was filled  with round of  applause.  Prize Distribution took place throughout the programme.  Distinguished guests were requested to give away the prizes. 
 Mr. Amir Subhani, IAS, the Chief Guest, in his inspiring speech blessed and congratulated the students for their wonderful performances.  He stressed  on the importance of  competitions  and  team spirit while sharing his experiences.  Vote of thanks  was proposed by the Headmistress, Mrs. Vishakha Sinha, of St. Michael’s High School. The programme was witnessed by many renowned personalities of the town, the Principals  of  many institutions  and many  august guests .
The  Principal, Fr. Armstrong Edition, congratulated  all  the participants for their  excellent performances  and  thanked  the teachers,  for their  painstaking  guidance  and support  to the students.  Fr. Principal appreciated all the announcers for their wonderful announcements and volunteers for their full support and help.  He added that the meticulous effort and guidance of Vice-Principal, Fr. A. Christu Savarirajan and Brother Rajesh were praise worthy for the success of the programme.

Beating retreat took place to end this marvellous show and continue the tradition for the coming years.
